Day 11 Keld to Reeth (27.9 Km, total ascent 620 m)

Day 11 Keld (Birkdale) to Reeth (27.9 Km, total ascent 620 m)

We decided to walk from the B&B at Birkdale, rather than accept the offer of a lift to rejoin the Coast to Coast Path where we had left it the previous day.  As a consequence we had a much longer walk than most doing this leg.

The route
Farewell to Little Birkdale
Having spent some time in Swaledale in 2012 we decided we would like to walk through the dale so opted for the low route, mostly along the river in this section of the walk, rather than the high route through the old mining remains.

Gamboling Lambs

Wainwath Force

More Yurts.

Arriving in Keld, a defibrillator is ready, fortunately we didn't need it..

View back along Swaledale

As we walk along we have lovely views back along the valley.

We pass East Cottage across the valley, we stayed there for a week on our visit in 2012

Many dilapidated barns along Swaledale, this one supported by a large log.

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

Spot the rabbit

Easier to see them in this field.
A Swaledale Sheep. Not another sheep photo!

Suspension Bridge rebuilt after the original was washed away in a flood of the Swale.

We reach Cambridge House Guest House in Reeth, our B&B.
